I usually wait until the papers give me some intel on the more obscure teams so that I can delude myself into thinking I know what I'm doing when I make my upset picks. The paper today has some of that so I'll do my best to get the brackets filled out by tomorrow morning.
Of course, St. Patrick's Day complicates this for me.
st patty day has complicated everything, im usually not this drunk till waaaay later
who's gonna help me pick?

My picks, such as they are, are in.
So how many folks signed up?
This is a true story, and I can prove it:
Years ago here in Chicago, it turned out that a legal secretary won her office pool. She knew nothing about basketball. She picked her teams based on their connection to Rob Lowe, on whom she had a huge crush.
So she picked Ohio State, because he was born in Ohio. She picked Dayton, because it's in Ohio; UCLA because he lived in LA; UNLV, because one of his movies started there; and Georgia Tech, because he'd infamously been at the Democratic National Convention there.
Then she picked Ball State. Ball State is in Muncie, Indiana. For whatever reason, Ball State had an improbable run that one year, putting together a nice string of upsets. But no one could figure out what the connection to Rob Lowe was that prompted her to choose it.
I picked Ball State because of what happened at the Democratic National Convention, she answered, and she won the office pool largely because of that choice.
